Bootstrap Extravaganza

We are in the middle of making ALL 100 Bootstrap journals for the 2020 season.  That’s 50 pair of old worn- out boots in the works for soft, lovely journals.  The process:

  • Finding a pair of used boots

  • Cutting off the boot

  • Cutting the upper to size

  • Thorough cleaning with Lexol leather soap

  • Flattening leather in book press if needed

  • Sewing linings and pockets to the inside

  • Setting eyelets

  • Stringing elastic

  • Dyeing edges

  • Rubbing in Blackrock (our favorite leather conditioner)

  • Adding refillable inserts

  • Setting closure snap on bootstrap and riveting it to journal

VOILA!  They’ll be finished by the end of March.  So stay tuned to grab yours this spring or summer.
