Upcycled wooden covers are either natural wood or painted and usually have an inked image and/or phrase added. Natural wood finishes are sanded and treated for a smooth and organic feel. There will sometimes be slight irregularities in the wood grain or finish since this is reused material. The spines are created from long-lasting book tape and chipboard.
These refillable wooden journals hold notebook inserts that can be easily replaced. Just pull the notebook off of the elastic band and slide a new one in. Each book includes two inserts plus a handmade pocket inside the front cover and one file insert in the middle to capture loose papers. A handy elastic band wraps around the book to keep it snugly closed.
We use Annie Sloan chalk paint for the painted covers. Often two colors are applied, with a distress technique to give the cover a worn, vintage feel. All painted covers are carefully waxed for a smooth, warm patina.
