2020 Pivot

Pivoting—there’s a lot of that going on right now as everyone adapts to a new normal. Part of my pivot is to move from production to….a whole range of other activities. I’ve been focusing on building inventory for my refillable journals since March 1 and will end that on June 30. Given the cancellation of spring and summer art shows, I just won’t need as much inventory this year. So…onward to other business tasks, gardening, grandkids, artsy projects for me, etc.

Meanwhile, I’ve been getting some fun special orders to fill and I do love personalizing the journals. I look forward to the late summer and fall shows. When/if they be possible, I’m ready! I have a couple of small tweaks to make on my booth — signage, etc—then I’m off and running again.

Shown here, my last batch of Bootstrap Journals for 2020. These are from little boots—small ladies’ and kids’ sizes. They are not big enough for my regular 6” x 9” sized journals so I made two smaller refillable versions. The first is only 4” x 6“ and holds small Moleskine Cahiers (photos above). The second set is a bit bigger — about 5” x 7”. I made them as photo albums, each one holding 84 4” x 6” photos. A new twist and I love it! I liked them so much I kept two to use as travel journals (again…if travel ever becomes feasible). Most are a very soft pliable leather; these are not work boots! What do you think?
