Winter Staycation

I am taking January and February as ‘staycation’ time this year — also known as catch-up, work through lists, and just down time. BUT I’m also using this time to gather materials for the journals I will make this year starting in March. The piles are taking over part of the house — journal inserts, de-constructed cowboy boots, license plates, leather book covers, wooden paneling, inner tube spines, and on and on. These mountains of materials are starting to feel a bit overwhelming and I keep telling myself that this is not about mass production but about creativity. After all, nearly every journal ends up being a one-of-a-kind. But this is the first time I’ve gone about it so efficiently.
